Realistic Anomaly Mediation with Bulk Gauge Fields

چکیده
We present a simple general framework for realistic models of supersymmetry breaking driven by anomaly mediation. We consider a 5-dimensional ‘brane universe’ where the visible and hidden sectors are localized on different branes, and the standard model gauge bosons propagate in the bulk. In this framework there can be charged scalar messengers that have contact interactions with the hidden sector, either localized in the hidden sector or in the bulk. These scalars obtain soft masses that feed into visible sector scalar masses at two loop order via bulk gauge interactions. This contribution is automatically flavor-blind, and can be naturally positive. If the messengers are in the bulk this contribution is automatically the same order of magnitude as the anomaly mediated contribution, independent of the brane spacing. If the messengers are localized to a brane the two effects are of the same order for relatively small brane spacings. The gaugino masses and A terms are determined completely by anomaly mediation. In order for anomaly mediation to dominate over radion mediation the radion must be is stabilized in a manner that preserves supersymmetry, with supergravity effects included. We show that this occurs in simple models. We also show that the μ problem can be solved by the vacuum expectation value of a singlet in this framework.

Gaugino-Assisted Anomaly Mediation
We present a model of supersymmetry breaking mediated through a small extra dimension. Standard model matter multiplets and a supersymmetry-breaking (or “hidden”) sector are confined to opposite four-dimensional boundaries while gauge multiplets live in the bulk. The hidden sector does not contain a singlet and the dominant contribution to gaugino masses is via anomaly-mediated supersymmetry br...
متن کاملInstabilities of bulk fields and anomalies on orbifolds
Bulk matter modes of higher dimensional models generically become unstable in the presence of additional matter multiplets at the branes. This quantum instability is driven by localized Fayet– Iliopoulos terms that attract the bulk zero modes towards the boundary branes. We study this mechanism in the framework of a 5 dimensional S/Z2 orbifold and give conditions for the various possibilities o...
متن کاملGUTs on orbifold
We consider 5 dimensional E6, E7, and E8 supersymmetric grand unified theories (GUTs) on an orbifold S/Z2, in which the Higgs fields arise from the 5th components of the 5D gauge fields. We introduce matter fields in 5 dimensions, then the Yukawa interactions are induced from the gauge interactions among the 5th component of gauge fields and the bulk hyper-multiplets. The adjoint and fundamenta...
متن کاملBounds on masses of bulk fields in string compactifications
In string compactification on a manifold X , in addition to the string scale and the normal scales of low-energy particle physics, there is a Kaluza-Klein scale 1 R associated with the size of X . We present an argument that generic string models with low-energy supersymmetry have, after moduli stabilization, bulk fields with masses which are parametrically lighter than 1 R . We discuss the imp...
متن کاملVacuum stability bounds in Anomaly and Gaugino Mediated SUSY breaking models
We constrain the parameter space of the minimal and gaugino–assisted anomaly mediation, and gaugino mediation models by requiring that the electroweak vacuum corresponds to the deepest minimum of the scalar potential. In the framework of anomaly mediation models we find strong lower bounds on slepton and squark masses. In the gaugino mediation models the mass spectrum is forced to be at the TeV...
